Title: Second annual Lael trial at Dallesport Sunday October 4th
Post by: JayLael on September 21, 2015, 10:11:14 am
Please make plans to come out and enjoy the wonderful rocks out there, with the COTA club. The plan is to have the event at the usual spot, ust across the river from The Dalles.  More info as things develop.

Monday I spoke with Mike Wirth, who has begun the process of getting awards made for the event.  Brian Clarke has talked with the land owner and secured permission to hold the event. He was adamant there be no fires of any kind out at the trials site. The grass is quite dry, and with the winds, it is a potential fire waiting to happen. I am certain we will all be able to comply with that.
So the event is a go for Sunday the 4th of October.  Hopefully some changes to the front page will be happening very soon to reflect that.

The weather will be sunny and warm this Sunday in Dallesport.  If you know any spectators planning to attend, please remind them to wear sturdy shoes. Plenty of sections close to the parking lot make this location a good place to bring friends and family, or anyone interested in seeing what this sport is all about.

A huge thank you to all the riders and families who showed up at Dallesport! It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the beautiful weather, and our sport. Although the scores were a little bit on the low side, I think most of the riders were ok with the level of difficulty and the fun factor was off the scale. It sure was neat to see little Diego Paredes riding the novice line, even netting his first award in real trials! I'm sure some of the lines were pretty scary for a child so young.
Congratulations to all of the winners, and those who simply enjoyed the day.
Especial thanks to Heidi for scoring, Karli Ditmars for tirelessly assisting the trials marshall, all of the induviduals who jumped in to help get the trial ready and to tear it down afterwards, and most of all Dan Harris, who cleared  huge swaths of grass to provide  access to the sections, drove a hundred wooden stakes, and generally busted his ass to make this a great event. I could never have done this without your help.
See you all at the next trial.
