Kam and I had a great time.  Hope I'm smart enough to work this YouTube thing.  Thanks for doing this for the kids Don and all your hard work.  Thanks to Mark, Nick, others and their significant others for making it all happen as well.

3  General Category / Events / PNTA Rounds 3 & 4-Dallesport, WA 4/14 & 4/15 on: March 13, 2012, 10:31:50 pm
This event will be a go, but I need your help!  I am planning on going out on Sunday, 4/1, mid morning and possibly staying through Monday, 4/2, to set up.  I will also plan to go out 4/7 and 4/8 to finalize sections.  I am looking for section set up help AND someone to either be the Trials Marshal on Saturday (I'll do Sunday) or PM both days (and I'll do AM) so I can ride at least 1 day.  If you have any questions, please call me after 12 pm at 503-806-1379.   Thanks, Mark

I am going to save a vacation day and work on Saturday, 4/7 so will NOT be at Dallesport.  I will be there sunday around noon, likely staying through Monday.  I will be back on Friday the 13th.  Several people have helped out so far but hopefully others can come out too.  If you show up on Saturday and find something feel free to mark it if you have ribbon, need am and pm sections.  If no ribbon do your best, there are stakes behind trees that are across from where portapotties are normally set.  Sorry for change of plans, thanks for help, call if need clarification.

Directions-  Coming from Portland-I-84 eastbound, take the Troutdale exit (exit 17).  Go by the truck stops on this 1 way street, turn right and go south past the outlet mall on your left (you'll be on 257th).  You'll go south on 257th for awhile, passing Mt. Hood Community College on your left.  At Division St. (7-11 on the corner on your left), turn left (east).  Division will angle to the right after 302nd (which has a flashing yellow light).  Go to the right at the angle, which is SE Oxbow Dr.  You'll go through some wooded, curves and come to an intersection where a road angles up and to the right or SE Oxbow continues to the left.  You can take the right, which is SE Altman Rd.  If you miss this, keep going on Oxbow and turn right on Hosner Rd.  At SE Lusted Rd., turn left (east).  There will be nurseries all around you.  You are going to stay on Lusted for a while, you will go down a steep, twisty hill, then go straight and come to another, steep, twisty hill.  At the bottom of the last hill, you will go over a green bridge over the Sandy River and the road will go to the right.  STAY WAY TO THE RIGHT and go straight down the small road to your very right, which is SE Marsh Rd.  Marsh Rd. runs parallel to the river, is marked as a dead end and is a little rough.  Go down Marsh about a mile and on your left, you'll see a manufactured home with an ugly red door and a pole barn (12280 SE Marsh Rd.).  If you have questions, please call 503-806-1379--it WILL be answered the day of the event.

On Monday, 8/1, you can come out and ride and/or help set up starting around 10 am throughout the evening.  The day of event, you can show up as early as 3pm.  The "loop" is extremely short, so if you are late, you should still be able to make it through.  TRIALS BIKES ONLY PLEASE, have to keep the neighbors happy.  And parking can be tight, so be flexible, will be parking on front and back lawns, driveway, and lastly along street.  $10 entry fee per person, some food will be served.

7  General Category / General Discussion / Re: POLL: COTA Supplemental Event Question Survey on: September 27, 2010, 10:09:50 pm
I think we need to do more polls like this one so we can find out what the people really want!  First, I really like the idea of throwing out events, Jason suggested to me 1 for every 5.  This seems fair and ultimately fixes the problem.  I also like advanced notice, but don't know if 30 days is required.  We talked about maybe 2 weeks and I think an announcement email to everyone on the list would be appropriate.  One of the concerns I have about this if it is made a rule, is the trials marshal that sets up the February Trial.  The Friday before, we have an ice storm start.  Do we punish the trials marshal and put it off for 14 or 30 days?  Cancel it and say sorry for all your hard work?  Make a supplemental rule just for these type of cancellations?  I don't think that someone that wants to ride on Sunday X will really care if a trial is "points" or "fun" but the marshal shouldn't really be told that your trial isn't up to "points" specifications.  I see this upsetting some marshals and the list of those willing to put on trials right now seems fairly short.  I really do appreciate the input of others, so thanks to those of you that have posted replies...

8  General Category / Events / Re: CEDAR CREEK TRIALS 9-26-10 on: September 24, 2010, 11:55:30 pm
I like the idea of group check!  (have to relieve the Mrs. with childcare in the afternoon!)  Maybe we can have a brief meeting at Cedar Creek and find out when Dallesport works.  We can also discuss the 30 day notification idea (it is generally nice to have this ideal, advanced notice but we do live in the real world and are not getting 30 days advanced cancellation notice), maybe making best 7 of 9 events or whatever and get some group feedback.  Hope to see you all there.

Directions-  Coming from the South-I-205 northbound, take the Hwy 212/224 exit east bound.  Go through Damascus and into Boring.  At SE 282nd (a signal there, is next signal past the Shell station/Richey Rd), go north bound.  Continue north, turn right at SE Orient Dr (Chevron and John Deere on corners).  After getting onto Orient, you will make an immediate left on SE Dodge Park Blvd.  If you pass a feed store on your left hand side, you passed the turn.  On SE Dodge Park Blvd, you will go through the community of Pleasant Home.  Keep going straight on Dodge Park.   Eventually, you will come to a stop sign at SE Lusted Rd.  Turn right and you will go down a steep, twisty hill.  You will go over a green bridge over the Sandy River and the road will go to the right.

I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO USE MAPQUEST OR SIMILAR AS THEY WILL SEND YOU ON A LONGER ROUTE THROUGH THE CITY OF SANDY.

10  General Category / Events / WEDNESDAY NIGHT EVENT ADDED 8/18/10 on: July 30, 2010, 06:40:02 pm
I have talked with others and we are adding another event for the Wednesday Night Series.  It will be on August 18th, 2010 out towards Sandy (near Dodge Park, about 15-20 minutes east of Gresham/Troutdale).  I will post directions later.  Normal start times (6ish) and fees, extremely short loop and Mrs. Snyder is considering catering the event.  Parking may be tight, so please no semis, trailers, motorhomes, etc. if you can avoid it and no spectator riding, but feel free to carpool and bring observers.  It is not a good location for the first time novice rider.  Hope you can make it, call me at 503-806-1379 with any questions.   Mark
