At the last meeting the officers came up with the question of what to do if people were moving up or down a class during the course of the year.  Last year we operated under the premise that one would commit to a class let say, intermediate, you could later ride Advanced but you could not go back to the lower class for the “championship”. In other words, you could move up or down any time you want but you could only accumulate championship points on the upper classes.  This rule rewards people for staying in their class and discourages people from higher classes coming down and ultimately discouraging people in lower classed competing for the championship.  So if you could take a moment to think about this, please vote on the following poll and let us know how the club feels about this topic.

Thanks,

Julio Paredes

I voted to let people move up and down only because I think people should be able to move up towards the end of a season or for one event to try it out and still keep their points in their main class.  Maybee we should have a audit where people can ride out of class twice a year to try out the next class up.

That is a good point Tracy, the way we could address that point is by allowing people to ride up or down a class on the "exhibition" form that way, people can move down a class or up a class to test it with out jeopardizing their main class championship especially since we get to throw out two events. In other words, you could ride the different class and get a score but you cant trophy or receive championship points for that event.

In the COTA Championship I ride Expert class, for the most part the sections are within my capability because the trials marshal know what level we ride at, in the PNTA series I ride the Senior Advanced class because some of the Expert lines can be above my ability I don’t mind tough technical sections but have no ambition to break a leg seeing how big a rock step I can fall off.
The COTA championship and PNTA championship   are two different  series  that don’t conflict unless you try  combine the two.

I can’t speak for Jay, but don’t mind having my score removed from the COTA  round of the event, I made the decision  to ride two PNTA rounds in the class I started in the first two PNTA rounds, not one PNTA and one COTA round.

It sounds like Ishey hit the point, at least as far as PNTA and COTA.  The PNTA series and the COTA series are different and maybe the club shouldn't be trying to tie them together sharing points or designating a PNTA event as a COTA points event.  The PNTA has many more classes than our local events and almost all riders seem to back off a class or move down to an in between class.
