Dave Hiatt called me this morning and informed me that there will be slash clearing and burning in the Midway area with focus on exposing more of the boulders for use as Trials sections. He had previously gone over the areas to be done with Paul Endres, "Henry", and Jay Terry, there will also be some boulders taken down from the side hill for safety.
In the future when we are working on the trails and in the designated trials areas we should keep track of the man hours accumulated so Dave can add that to the volunteer hours for our club. I have some of the hour reports available, so if you give them to me I can forward them, just need dates, time worked, what was done and location.
We and all clubs and recreational riders owe , especially,Dave Hiatt and the ODF thanks for the amazing amount of trails and access afforded the off road community, in the whole country this is a very special area, The Tillamook.

This received from Dave Hiatt yesterday, another thankyou owed to Dave and the ODF, and you will note the poster of Daniel was taken just below where the rock was removed. And a big thanks to Jay Terry for helping Dave, but knowing Jay, and having witnessed rock toppelings at Washougal and other areas this was jolly time for him. and Jay as Dave suggested please post the video.

Mike,

You should see a significant difference now around the boulders in the Midway area.    I had a crew of ten S. Fork inmates working on it for a week.   They also burned most of the slash piles.   J

P.S.  I hope Jay Terry will post the video of that huge (30 ft high?) boulder coming down that he tipped off the hill above this area to improve safety at my request.    Pieces of that rock the size of pickup trucks were bounding through the air as it came down.   Truly spectacularly if you were there!    J
