Message: I was wondering what areas are open for trials riding, that are not being logged right now. We went to cedar creek last weekend and all the normal areas are being logged right around it and the trials areas are covered in trees and limbs.

thanks

Jeff, as you saw the trials sections are a mess, we are to have an event later in the summer but all this clearing shouldn't rest on the trials marshall for that event since we all enjoy this area. The last event held at Cedar Creek was mine in 2007 and a lot of storms and logging have taken their toll, I have cleared upper Mongos, Keep Left trail so it is passable by novices but the sections need to be cleared from storm fall. Midway is mostly clear but we need to move and replant about 50 trees that were mistakenly planted within our agreed GPS coordinates. Out back needs its sections tended to also.
At the event on this sunday I was going to ask for some help on our non event weekends to first replant the trees and then to start clearing the sections.
This area will now be open for events, practice and riding for many enjoyable years to come, a group of us have been riding there for over 25 years and now the next generation can enjoy it for at least 40 more until the next logging event.
the following e-mails will let people know that Dave Hiatt is fully behind us, and he has been instrumental in new trails and trials designated areas.

Mike,

Reforestation told me it is fine for you guys to move them to where you want them in order to have a long term trials area that works correctly while those trees grow.   Go for it.

Thanks,

Thanks Mike,

Approximately how many trees need to moved?

Do you know of any volunteers we could use to move the trees that are in the wrong locations?

Hi Dave, had a great ride after working. Started at midway, those are the 4 big rock sections on the outback trail just past where the nice little creek was destroyed and turned into a canyon, anyway, I tagged a lot of trees with pink and black stripped ribbon within the confines of the previously GPSed sections, the gps reading should still be available I would hope, those trees would need to be moved out past the previous tree boundary so as to utilize the sections, Clyde has ridden these several times in trials. Some of the planters even stuck them in the trail,I tagged those also but on my return trip other riders had ripped them right out.

Then I went to keep left and cleared down through the rock sections about 20 trees or so. One thing to keep an eye on is that someone has continued clearing the old main line of this trail down to mongos which when Kelly was there we decommissioned due to severe unpermitted use in a large event, so if someone has requested an event in that area please make sure they don't sneek in keep left or it will be destroyed again, a nameless club did that in 07 and thats what rutted it so bad

How about adding 3hrs work to the COTA bank in my name.
