Despite the torrential downpour of rain around the Portland area, the Krahel property was slippery and muddy, with no rain coming down during the evening trial event. Huge motor homes and vans, were NOT swallowed up in Kary's horse pasture parking lot. Ten brave souls showed up and five stalwart trials fans did the observing. Three loops of five sections provided plenty of exercise and laughs for everyone. The loop was a bit difficult for some as it involved a slippery climb behind Mike Perrotti's house, and the roots at the top of section two were polished so well that Some riders spun tire for about sixty seconds while dragging their bike across them on an upward incline. As I watched Hank Wirth do this, I was reminded of the joke about the guy who buys a motor home, drives it out on the freeway, sets the cruise control, and goes in the back to fix himself a drink. Hank had plenty of time to do so, while polishing those roots! Maybe if you up shift a couple of gears those roots will relent and let you pass, Hank!
OK anyhow, there will be more COTA Wednesday night trials. Watch this space as things develop.
